Details

Emily Balton is a Memphis-based designer, educator, and creative strategist specializing in environmental graphic design, public art, and collaborative brand initiatives. Her professional practice includes large-scale projects such as the Ford Motor Company’s Blue Oval City sculptural landmark, where she helped cultivate partnerships bridging corporate teams, universities, and communities and fuse a design process that integrated both studio art and graphic design student contributions to the project. With more than a decade of experience across design, production, and strategy, she brings a systems-thinking approach to both the classroom and the creative industry.

At Austin Peay, Emily will share how generative AI can be integrated into creative workflows as a tool for amplification rather than homogenization. Drawing from agency collaborations, fast-paced production, and her own teaching practice, she will highlight ways designers can use emerging technology to streamline work while protecting originality, voice, and human-centered creativity.
